This past weekend, I had the honor of being a bridesmaid in one of my best friend’s weddings. My friend and her fiance both work for Disney, so going in, we all knew it would be a fun event. I’m not kidding when I say this was probably the most fun wedding I have ever been to.
Both the bride and groom are funny and amazing people. And that translated into their wedding. The groom and most of his groomsmen are Storm troopers at Disney. They entered the ceremony to the theme to Star Wars. As we bridesmaids entered, we carried signs that when read all together delivered a message to the groom before the bride waled down the isle — ‘Dear Brian, You are the love of my life.” Their vows were lyrics from their favorite songs (he used Rick Astley ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’, and she used lyrics from New Kids on the Block).
When the ceremony ended, the newlyweds didn’t want to miss out on hearing their favorite song by Journey, so they had the wedding party exit first. And that is where we were finally able to surprise them. We had the wedding planner secretly buy light sabors for all of us to hold up while they walked back up the isle (think of when men used to hold swords up for people to walk under). They were completely surprised. And I delivered a subtle smack on the ass to my dear friend as she walked by me…
The reception was equally fun with the best music from the 80’s. The bride hit her new husband in the face with a pie! (What?! This isn’t a normal occurrence?) My husband and I had a great night. Below are a few pictures I snapped during the evening. (Being that I was in the wedding, I couldn’t take any of the ceremony itself.)
(Getting ready to get ready.)
(Me before the ceremony. Luckily I didn’t post the picture because people would have gotten a sneak peak at the bride before the wedding!)
(A little fun photo shoot with my husband and I.)
(The BEAUTIFUL bride!)
